  • Plan to collect and ship on the same day. Samples dropped off on Saturdays or Sundays will not be processed.

Plan for Your Collection & What to Do When You Receive Your Kit

  1. Abstain from ejaculation for 2-5 days prior to collecting your sample. Avoid being abstinent longer than 5 days.
  2. Plan to collect and send your sample Monday-Friday afternoon only (around 3-4pm is ideal).
  3. When you receive your kit, immediately refrigerate the transport media located in the silver pouch, keep in fridge until you are ready to collect. DO NOT FREEZE.
  4. Keep the box. You’ll need it to return your sample.
  5. DO NOT collect more than one sample a day.

It's Collection Time. Here's What You Need to Know:

  1. Prepare: Gather the collection cup and the transport media.
  2. Transport media: Remove the transport media from the refrigerator at least 30 minutes before you collect. It should be close to room temperature when you mix it with your sperm.
  3. Wash up: Wash your hands and genitals with soap prior to collecting your sample.
  4. Produce sample: Open the cup. Produce a sample by masturbating to ejaculate into the empty cup. Do not use lubricants or saliva.
  5. Add the transport media: Pour all of the contents of the transport media into the sample cup. Make sure that you close the cap tightly until it clicks.

After You've Collected Your Sample:

  1. Place the cup in the specimen bag, zip it closed, and place in the CryoChoice box for shipping.
  2. Complete your section of the Collection Worksheet and place it back in the box.
  3. Put the box in the provided FedEx Clinical Pak and Seal. The pre-paid shipping label is attached.
  4. Deliver your sample to the closest INDOOR FedEx Store locations the same day of your collection.

After You've Sent in Your Sample:

  1. Your sample will arrive at our lab the following day.
  2. CryoChoice will notify you via email once your sample has arrived. Your results will be sent to you within 2-3 business days of receiving your kit.
  3. Blood work is recommended to be performed within 60+- days of your last sample being submitted. Infectious Disease Testing is not a FDA requirement but it is recommended for the fertility clinic to use any sample for fertility treatments in the future. You will only need one blood test report for your account.
  4. Your lab will need to test for:
  • Blood group/Rh
  • HIV 1 & 2 Antibody
  • HTLV 1 & 2
  • HCV
  • West Nile Virus/NAT (in the Summer)
  • Syphilis (RPR)
  • HBsAG
  • Gonorrhea/Chlamydia (PCR)
